Task Brief

The task was to build an immersive User Experience for the Luxury App, that brings to life the brand ethos focusing on Slow Commerce and Brand Storytelling. It required conceptualizing and designing a mock-up of the User Interface across the launch screen, landing page, product page, shopping basket and checkout.

In Design, I think understanding the problem statement is just as important as the first step towards crafting a solution. My takeaway from this problem statement was that the Design should make space for a slow web experience that does not constantly overwhelm the user with choices, and decisions. it was important to note the stress on coming up with unhurried browsing that acknowledged that finding what you want takes time. We are used to e-commerce platforms bombarding us with offers, lightning deals, etc. While coming up with a solution, I’ve kept in mind the Brand persona - sophisticated and thoughtful.

Initial Study, Pain Points, and Solutions

Launch Screen

Both the launch screen and Landing Page attempts to present a gist of what the platform has to offer. On the launch screen, the user can swipe a number of times to look at screens that highlight the service perks. Each screen contains text corresponding to one perk with no additional visuals, making for a possibly tiresome horizontal scrolling that does not capture interest.

Solution

I decided to keep a single launch screen that contains the service perks, minimalist visuals and prompts the user to log in or sign up. It’s simple, neat, and does not require the user to scroll multiple times at the launch of the app. I took all the service perks from the original website.

Flow of Content in Original Design

The original launch screen of the application compels the user to make a choice they do not have much context of. Instead of letting the user warm up to the platform, it instantly asks for a decision - this does not reflect the intended brand ethos.
